Camelia Kuhnen is a Professor of Finance and Sarah Graham Kenan Distinguished Scholar at the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She serves as the Faculty Director of the CREATE Economic Development Center at the Kenan Institute for Private Enterprise.
Dr. Kuhnen is a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and serves as Department Editor at "Management Science" and Editor at the "Review of Corporate Finance Studies." She is a past President of the Society for Neuroeconomics and President-Elect of the Society for Experimental Finance. She is a member of the American Finance Association Board of Directors.
Dr. Kuhnen holds B.S. degrees in Neuroscience and Finance from MIT (2001) and a Ph.D. in Finance from Stanford University (2006). Before joining UNC-Chapel Hill, she was a faculty member at Northwestern University.
Her research focuses on household finance, neuroeconomics, and labor and finance, with an emphasis on understanding the effects of adversity on people’s financial decision-making and their expectations about personal and macro-level economic outcomes.
